DÖRR DHG NEUTRAL DENSITY FILTER ND8

ND filters (ND = neutral density), darken the image evenly and neutrally, similar to sunglasses for our eyes. Neutral means that there are no changes of colour, sharpness, contrast, and brilliance in the picture. Since the same darkening is not suitable for every subject, DÖRR neutral density filters are available in various grades. ND filters are simply screwed into the filter thread of the lens.

HOW DOES A DÖRR DHG NEUTRAL DENSITY FILTER ND8 WORK?

✓ When using a DÖRR DHG ND8 filter, the exposure time is increased by a factor of 8x. For example: if an exposure time of 1/1000s is required (without filter), the exposure time can be extended to 1/125s (1000s x 8 = 125s) with a DÖRR DHG ND8 filter.

✓ When using a DÖRR DHG ND8 filter, the aperture can be opened 3 stops (f-stops) further. For example: if an aperture of 8 is required (without filter), it can be changed to 2.8 with a DÖRR DHG ND8 filter.

WHY DO YOU NEED A DÖRR DHG ND8 FILTER?

✓ Outdoor portraits
Portraits are taken with light intense lenses and an open aperture. This creates a nice background blur (bokeh). During the day you may quickly reach the limits of the camera settings. Even using the shortest exposure time and the lowest ISO setting, the picture will be overexposed. The DÖRR DHG ND8 filter allows portrait shots with open aperture even in bright ambient light with no risk of an overexposure.

✓ Portraits in the photo studio
Many studio flashes can reduce their light output by up to 6 f-stops only. This leads to overexposure when using light formers such as beauty dishes or standard reflectors. The solution is a DÖRR DHG ND8 filter which ensures correctly exposed pictures using medium apertures.

FOR WHICH MOTIFS THE DÖRR DHG ND8 FILTER IS SUITABLE?

Due to the low level of darkening, an ND8 filter is well suited for portraits - both in the studio and outdoors. Thanks to this low level of darkening, the autofocus of your camera has no problems with focusing. For landscape shots with long exposure times, we recommend stronger neutral density filters such as:

WHAT MEANS “DHG”?

DHG stands for Digital High Grade. The filter surfaces are coated with DHG Multi Coating on both sides. This ensures an optimum contrast, high brilliance and neutral colours.

THE FILTER FRAME

The ultra slim frame avoids vignetting. The matt black metal frame and black glass edges reduce reflections. The filters are fitted with a front thread to attach further accessories.
