Description

The extensively configured DÖRR refractor telescope WEGA 1000 is the ideal device for ambitious beginners and advanced hobby astronomers with high demands. The very stable telescope is easy to use and features a tripod, EQ2-mount, finder scope, 3 eyepieces, achromatic 2-times Barlow lens with camera connection, diagonal mirror and a moon filter. The WEGA 1000 ensures impressive observations of the moon, planets, stars, brighter nebulae, open star clusters and globular star clusters. Even details of larger planets and very distant galaxies become visible.

THE TELESCOPE – A CLASSIC WITH LENSES

The DÖRR WEGA 1000 is a lens telescope - also known as a refractor. The light is collected by the lenses, bundled and magnified by the eyepiece. This is the classic construction. As early as 1609, Galileo Galilei presented the world's first telescope - a refractor. To date, the optics have been constantly improved. The WEGA delivers a good optical quality. The long focal length of 1000mm and the aperture of 90mm make even distant celestial bodies such as galaxies visible.

THE TRIPOD – STABLE BUT STILL LIGHTWEIGHT

The telescope rests on a LT1 tripod with aluminium tripod legs. It combines high stability with low weight. This is a great advantage if you want to transport the telescope. The height of the tripod legs can be variably adjusted to ensure comfortable observation in an upright position - regardless of your body height. The triangle tray between the tripod legs is ideal for keeping eyepieces and other accessories while observing.

THE EQ-2 MOUNT – FOR PRECISE TRACKING

The EQ-2 equatorial mount enables the telescope to be aligned and celestial objects to be precisely tracked. The axes are aligned with the Earth's axis. As a result, only one axis has to be moved to compensate for the arc-shaped rotation of the earth. Exact tracking of the celestial bodies to be observed can be carried out evenly. The observation object always remains in the centre of the field of view. Therefore, the EQ-2 equatorial mount is also well suited for high magnifications. The movement of the polar and the declination axis as well as the tracking is done manually via rotary knobs for fine movement, each attached to a flexible shaft. The movable counterweight and the two tube clamps, which allow the telescope to be positioned precisely on the mount, keep the telescope in optimal balance.

SETUP AND OPERATION – FAST, SIMPLE AND CONVENIENT

The components of the telescope can be set up easily and quickly. Operating the telescope is also quite simple. While you track the objects manually, the sharpness can be precisely adjusted using two rotary wheels. All setting options are designed in such a way that even beginners are able to intuitively operate the telescope immediately. Whether children, teenagers or adults - nothing stands in the way of a successful start in the world of astronomy.

THE FINDER SCOPE 6X30 – SIMPLY LOCATING THE CELESTIAL BODIES

The finder scope is placed parallel to the telescope tube and, after a one-time adjustment, allows you to quickly find the desired celestial objects that you want to observe. A finder scope is necessary because the viewing angle of telescopes is so small due to the high magnification that it is not possible to find celestial objects. Due to the low magnification of only 6x, the finder scope captures a larger area of the sky, making it easier to quickly align the telescope to the desired object. The large aperture of 30mm ensures a high light intensity for even better orientation.

FULLY COATED EYEPIECES – OPTICS FOR A CLEAR VIEW

The eyepieces are part of the optical system. They are attached to the telescope and allow you to look into the telescope. The eyepiece used affects the magnification of the telescope. The WEGA comes with 3 eyepieces. They are equipped with a standardized 1.25" socket diameter:

 PL6,3 four-lens eyepiece
with 6,3mm focal length, Plössl construction for a magnification of 159x

 PL10 four-lens eyepiece
with 10mm focal length, Plössl construction for a magnification of 100x

 PL25 four-lens eyepiece
with 25mm focal length, Plössl construction for a magnification of 40x

The fully coated lenses (FC) enable improved light transmission for the brightest possible image and reduce reflections.

ACHROMATIC BARLOW LENS – MAGNIFICATION + CAMERA CONNECTION

The DÖRR WEGA 1000 includes an achromatic 2x Barlow lens. It is mounted between the telescope and the eyepiece and it doubles the magnification. The following magnifications result with the Barlow lens:

PL6,3 magnification 318x*
PL10 magnification 200x*
PL25 magnification 80x

*the recommended maximum magnification for the DÖRR WEGA 1000 is 180x. Although higher magnifications are technically possible, they no longer lead to sharp observation results. Mainly responsible for this are the air turbulences in our earth's atmosphere.

The achromatic Barlow lens is fitted with a T2 thread mount. Using the appropriate T2 adapter (optionally available from DÖRR), all common SLR and system cameras can be connected to the telescope for astrophotography. For this purpose, the Barlow lens is inserted into the telescope and connected to the camera instead of an eyepiece. This significantly reduces optical aberrations.

90° DIAGONAL MIRROR – FOR A COMFORTABLE INSIGHT

Every telescope produces a reversed and upside down image. The diagonal mirror, which is inserted between the telescope and the eyepiece, corrects the image that is upside down. The diagonal mirror also deflects the image by 90° and thus enables a more pleasant view from above.

MOON FILTER – FOR GLARE-FREE MOON OBSERVATIONS

The moon is illuminated by the sun. During full moon, it is uncomfortably bright when looking through the eyepiece. The supplied moon filter is screwed into the back of the eyepiece and neutrally darkens the image. Basically, it works like sunglasses and even longer observations of the full moon are pleasant and possible without being blinded. The use of the moon filter is also recommended when observing Venus in order to reduce the glare.

TIPS & TRICKS
