Create stunning visual effects in the studio with SAVAGE TRANSLUM™ Studio Backgrounds. Apart from diffuse and soft light, you may reduce reflections, create subtle gradients, add a soft frosted glass effect or achieve a nearly shadowless look that can be difficult to get otherwise.

The semi-translucent plastic material is not only perfect for portraits and product photography - TRANSLUM™ backgrounds are also ideal for glass and other reflective products, toning down light sources or even shoots involving water.

The translucent TRANSLUM™ backgrounds allow the background to be backlit with a flash or a powerful continuous light. Depending on how much you illuminate the background, you can achieve different effects - from bright white to overexposure for creative shots. If you do not illuminate the background, you will get image results as if you had a non-transparent, white background.

The studio background comes on a stable roll and can be used with many common background systems. The background can be unrolled up to a length of 5.49 m. Worn ends can simply be cut off. The durable plastic material is easy to clean with a damp cloth and mild soap.

SAVAGE TRANSLUM™ backgrounds are available in three different grades:

Durable and thick enough to stand for use as background, while still translucent enough for superb diffusion. Is also popular for tabletop and product shootings. Can also be used as a light table. TRANSLUM™ Heavyweight Backgrounds have a light loss of about 64% or 2 f-stops (EV).

The lightweight grade eliminates shadows and creates medium diffusion for a soft light effect in situations where some contrast is still desired. Very well suited for high-key photos, portraits, beauty and glamor shots. TRANSLUM™ Lightweight Backgrounds have a light loss of about 31% or ¾ f-stop (EV).

The medium grade creates a dramatic soft light effect where the elimination of most shadows is desirable. Great for photographing silhouettes. To do this, place the model behind the background and behind the flash as backlight. The background becomes the foreground. The sharpness of the edges can be varied depending on the distance between the model and the background. TRANSLUM™ Mediumweight Backgrounds have a light loss of about 57% or 1.5 f-stops (EV).
